India Rewrites History By Defeating Australia

Posted: 24 Mar 2011 11:31 PM PDT

The match between India and Australia is deserved to be the quarter final fight, where every part of the game has been changing from time to time. With lot of struggling, sledging and entertainment, India has won the game and rewrites history by defeating Australia.

On Thursday, the second quarterfinal match of the ICC World Cup 2011 was held at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad. Australia won the toss and elected to bat first. Ponting said that it was a slow pitch and 250 runs would be a reasonable score. They have taken Mike Hussey in for Steve Smith. Dhoni said that they were to take the game with the help of spinners. Sehwag was in for Yusuf Pathan. Dhoni became the first wicketkeeper-captain to play 100 ODI's.

It was Ashwin, the man from Chennai who started the bowling attack to the Aussies. He bowled consistently and had his first blow to Watson, missing his ball and the the wickets were disturbed. Yuvraj has struck the 2nd and 3rd wickets by dismissing Haddin and Clarke out of the game. Haddin scored a half century and added the score to hundred runs for the team along with Ricky Ponting. Zaheer khan bowled his mystery bare-knuckle slower ball and took the wicket of Hussey.

On the other side, Ponting seems to be very comfortable and was near to score the century and get back to his form. White was also dismissed by Zaheer by taking a wonderful caught and bowled. Ashwin strikes again and this time it was the hundred run Ponting who has been caught by Zaheer at short third man. Tendulkar was asked to bowl two overs and conceded just nine runs from it. He bowled a wonderful bowl to Clarke and he has not seen such a spin since he faced Warne in the nets.

India was given 261 runs to chase and was started by Sehwag and Sachin. Sehwag returned back with low score in the bouncing delivery of Watson and score 15 runs to the board. Sachin was joined by Gambhir and they put up a 50 run partnership. Sachin scored 53 runs and was dismissed by Tait. Gambhir was joined by Kholi and they had 49 run partnership. Kholi was caught neatly by Clarke in the Hussey's delivery.

Yuvraj comes in and dismisses the ball from his presence to boundary of his first ball, he looked little aggressive and concentrated too. When the India score was at 143 for 3, Gambhir was run out; only he knows what he has done in that ball. Yuvraj face the ball and the ball went no where and the first slip was after it. Yuvraj has not moved a bit but Gambhir wants the single and moved three-fourth of the pitch. The match was entirely changed in this moment and if India looses it might definitely be the mistake of Gautam.

Dhoni entered and returned back with no time by scoring just seven runs to the board. Yuvraj was joined by Suresh Raina and their partnership lasted till the winning moment of the game. India need 74 runs more in 12.3 overs left at that time. Yuvraj played his game and was well supported by Suresh Raina. He made a wonderful 57 runs under pressure and Raina scored 34 runs to make India to reach the semi-finals of ICC World Cup 2011.

India will meet their long-time rival, Pakistan on 30th of March 2011, Wednesday at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, Mohali in Chandigarh.

Let's hope that India will continue their tremendous form in the big clash against Pakistan. What do you say?
