Japan Build 100K Homes for Earthquake and Tsunami Survivors

Japan’s government planned a unique $50 billion (4 trillion yen) budget to help out finance reconstruction efforts and plans to build 100,000 temporary homes for survivors of last month’s shocking earthquake and tsunami.

The twin disasters smashed roads, seaport, farms and homes, crippled a nuclear power plant that forced tens of thousands of more poor people to vacate their houses for at least several months.

Prime Minister Naoto Kan stated that, he was moved by his discussions with victims during a recent tour of shelters. The Japan government also stated that, it the world’s most expensive natural disaster that has been damaged the cost of maximum $309 billion.

"Japan Tsunami"The extra $50 billion (4 trillion yen) the cabinet is expected to be only the first installment of reconstruction funding for this tragedy. About $15 billion (1.2 trillion yen) will go to fixing roads and ports and more than $8.5 billion (700 billion yen) will go to build temporary homes and clearing wreckage.

As part of the government's recovery plan, it will build 30,000 temporary homes for the survivors by the end of May and another 70,000 after that.

Finance Minister Yoshihiko Noda stated that, this is the first step toward re-building Japan after the major disasters. Parliament is likely to approve the special budget in the coming week.

Authorities planned to rigid hurdles on side streets. The order that took effect Friday is meant to limit radiation exposure and theft in the mostly isolated zone.
