Simple WordPress Tricks You May Not Be Knowing

Posted: 20 Apr 2011 09:13 PM PDT

While redesigning SmashinGeeks’s header, as you can see it’s changed, we have come across a unique WordPress Tricks. We are making its header somewhat social friendly and we have added Twitter @Anywhere, StumbleUpon and Facebook link in the topmost menu.

The unique tricks we have observed about Wp that we can put the scripts anywhere in the theme’s body. We have tested in ald as well as the latest version of WordPress and got the even results. The simple but unique tricks are very useful as these can increase productivity in less time.

Running Scripts in Page & Post Titles

To insert Facebook’s like button in our menu, we have first decided to insert the script manually to the thematic functionality, but we have first tested something new. You can run scripts and iFrames in your themes post titles and page titles too.

You can see the Facebook’s recommend button on the top menu. We have inserted that by the following steps.

  • If you want to display any script in menu, Add a new page from your WordPress Blog’s Dashboard.
  • Paste the script in the place of the title of the page and see the results.

Running Scripts In Widget Area

We have also came across one more wordpress trick, that is putting any script in widgets area. We have tested it and it works fine. Just follow the simple steps.

  • Go to Widgets Area and add a text Widget.
  • Put the script in the widget content area and if you want to use any comment, then place the comment in the format <!– Comment–!> in the title section of the widget.

Conclusion

We think these are the simplest ways for putting scripts and iframes into your theme without opening theme’s internal files and any kind of FTP. Maybe these wordpress tricks are new to you and hope you would like it.
