David Wilkerson was the founder priest of Times Square Church in New York City, a non-denominational church and the author of the best-selling book The Cross and the Switchblade, was died on Wednesday in a car accident in Texas. He was 79 year-old.

David Wilkerson was driving east on U.S. 175 in Texas Wednesday afternoon. David was moving into the opposite lane, where a tractor trailer was driving at west bound. The truck driver saw the car and tried to move out of the way, but still crashed with the pastor’s car head on, according to sources.

It is very unclear, what caused Wilkerson to turn into the other lane, as his wife Gwen was also caught up in the crash and was rushed to the hospital, along with the truck driver.

Wilkerson was evident as dead on the sight.

The Department of Public Safety of Texas spokesman Tela Mange stated that, David Wilkerson’s car destroyed head-on into a tractor rig after turning into looming traffic on U.S. 175 west of Cuney, almost 95 miles southeast of Dallas.

Wilkerson founded the non-denominational Protestant Times Square Church in 1987 in a region of Manhattan. That was disputed with X-rated movie houses, prostitution, strip clubs and drugs. He also established Teen Challenge, which uses a biblically place healing program for drug addicts.

Wilkerson believed that in the month of April 1973, he received a vision regarding the future of the United States. The subsequently gave a oration on the vision and printed a book called The Vision. He has told that God exposed to him a great disaster, which was going to happen in America due to increase in sins. Such as homosexuality, sexual promiscuity and hunger for the people.
