The pioneer, poet and keen observer of American society died Friday at the age of 62. The musician, author of “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised” in 1974, had faced drug problems for many years. Via Twitter, American artists reflect the impact and influence that Gil Scott-Heron left on music. Eminem wrote, “RIP Gil Scott-Heron. He influenced all of hip-hop.” Cee Lo Green heard the news and wrote, “Rest in peace to the GOD”, while Snoop Dogg named him “1 of tha greats, gil scott heron.” Chuck D of Public Enemy wrote, “RIP GSH..And we do what we do and how we do because of you. And to those that don’t know, tip your hat with a hand over your heart & recognize” Usher twittered, “I just learned of the loss of a very important poet…R.I.P. | Niecy Nash married Jay Tucker over the weekend Posted: 29 May 2011 06:17 PM PDT The nuptials were filmed as part of a TLC special called Niecy Nash’s Wedding Bash and it was an outdoor afternoon ceremony at the Church Estate Vineyard in Malibu. Nash and Tucker exchanged vows in front of 200 guests, including matron of honor Sheryl Lee Ralph, DWTS colleagues Evan Lysacek and Erin Andrews, The View star Sherri Shepherd, who was also one of the bridesmaids, and The Talk co-host Holly Robinson-Peete. Palin, surrounded by a crowd of cheering supporters and several members of her family, joined the thousands of motorcyclists who linked the route from the Pentagon to the Vietnam Veterans’ memorial. A defeated candidate for vice-presidency of the United States in 2008, Sarah Palin didn't mention politics, but displayed a wide smile when many in the crowd urged her to seek the Republican nomination for 2012. For now, Sarah Palin has not yet taken concrete steps to launch a presidential campaign, while many of her rivals have already begun to assemble campaign committees.

The actress and model will face charges of assault, hit and run and DUI. However, she won't be accused of attempted escape, as the case was initially. Warren tried to flee while she was at the police station in Los Angeles. The charges may be dropped because her name hadn't been entered into the system at the time of the offense. The 27-year-old singer was reportedly given a midnight deadline on Saturday to rejoin the show. Apparently, she has refused to talk to Simon Cowell and has ignored his repeated attempts to contact her, leading to her being axed for the X Factor for a second time in a week.. Filming of auditions will now begin on Wednesday without her. The British panel will now consist of Louis Walsh, Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Kelly Rowland. “The brutal truth is that no-one is bigger than the show – not Cheryl and not even Simon,” an associate of Cowell said. “We have a huge show and we need to get on the road on Wednesday and we needed to know if Cheryl was coming with us. We have bent over backwards for Cheryl and she hasn't engaged with us. She is out. The two tied the knot on Saturday night at Arlington Hall Mansion at Lee Park in Dallas, Texas, in a lavish ceremony in front of 600 guests. Among those in attendance were singer Ashanti, Chace Crawford, brother of the bride and past and present Cowboys players, including Troy Aikman, Roger Staubach, Dez Bryant, Miles Austin and team owner Jerry Jones. The reception was organized by wedding planner Todd Fiscus, who picked the menu which included a pizza bar and short ribs, and put together the gift bags containing champagne, assorted gourmet treats, Neiman Marcus gift cards and Kiehl's beauty products. “It was perfect! From the ceremony in beautiful white, to a vibrant after-party and great music selected by Tony himself,” a source told People. In an interview with USA Weekend, the 47-year-old actor admitted he is thinking more and more about marriage lately due to the insistence of his 6 kids. “The kids ask about marriage. It’s meaning more and more to them,” the actor says. “So it’s something we’ve got to look at.” Pitt also talks about how parenthood has changed him. “Kids hold up a mirror to you,” he says. “You can’t make excuses. You’ve got to make sure they’ve brushed their teeth and eaten a good breakfast. You want to be present if they wake up with a bad dream.” The Tree of Life star adds that it is difficult to reconcile fame and family life and despite admitting he enjoys the chaos that 6 little kids can create, he does ask for a certain order in their lives. “On the road, we’re a military mobile unit,” he says. “The kids have got their stuff down to one backpack, and they’re each responsible for their own bag. Mom does the packing; she’s quite gifted at that.
