Cheryl Cole mad at Simon Cowell for being sacked from X Factor

Posted: 27 May 2011 06:19 PM PDT

Rumors about the reason began to circulate, claiming that she had problems with another board member, Paul Abdul. According to friends of the singer, that's not it. A second possibility is her Newcastle accent that would have been too confusing for viewers. Also false, according to the same friends who say her accent and diction were tested in advance.

In the end, it turned out Simon Cowell, the mentor who wanted Cheryl to have a place in the English panel of the show, apparently decided to sack her.

“She is completely shocked and stunned. She never saw this coming at all,” one of her friends revealed, adding that Cheryl also said she had been “hung out to dry” by Cowell and the X Factor USA.

A version contradicted by sources close to Cowell who ensures that he had expressed his doubts about her future on the show three days before outing her. According to Sinitta, a longtime friend of Simon Cowell, the two are now trying to find a solution so that the singer can get out of this predicament with dignity, perhaps reprise her role on the English version.

Louis Walsh, the only remaining original judge of the British panel, expressed his support and willingness to welcome Cheryl back, saying, “We’d welcome her with open arms. I’m surprised about what happened to Cheryl in the US but yes I’d like her back on the UK show,” reports Daily Mail.

Meanwhile, Cheryl has been replaced on the panel by Nicole Scherzinger, who was initially set to co-host the programme with Welshman Steve Jones.

Coffee-style machine launched by Nestlé to prepare milk for babies

Posted: 27 May 2011 06:09 PM PDT

This new product has sparked anger among the companies that claim that Nestlé violates he advice of the World Health Organisation (WHO) according to which children under six months should be exclusively breastfed.

The company hopes that BabyNes system, which currently is sold only in Switzerland, is a replica of Nespresso and that it will help parents as it has helped coffee drinkers. The coffee machine prepares milk for babies at the dosage and temperature desired, within a minute after pressing the power button.

Nestlé claims that it takes into account the recommendations of the World Health Organization and recommends breast-feeding for children under six months. They also argue that they produce high-quality alternatives in terms of infant food. The milk formula for babies “meets the evolving nutritional needs in the first three years of life”.

The service will be available for customers 24 hours a day and it will be both on the web and on a hotline.

Baby Milk Action, an organization fighting for years against Nestlé and other manufacturers of breast milk substitutes, challenged the company to stop making promotional claims and start providing more details on its labels.

Patti Rundall, its policy director, said: “If there is powder in the capsule then it must be added to water at 70 degrees so how can this be done and cooled in one minute?”

The company says it will evaluate new markets for this product.

Two Englishmen traveled 1367 kilometers in a Tesla Roadster with only 10 hours of charging

Posted: 27 May 2011 06:03 PM PDT

Two Englishmen have tested the Tesla Roadster in a unique way – a journey from northern to southern United Kingdom. Their goal was to verify the loading point network that they carried out together with Tesla Motors. The 1367 km trip took 24 hours, including six stops for battery charging. The six stops totaled only 10 hours of charging, which means that the electric model needed only an hour for 130 kilometers, in addition to the initial charge from when they started the journey.

The team considered that breaks they took to charge the electric vehicle would have occurred anyway because they needed to eat and rest. The two have had unfriendly weather that included heavy rain and high wind speeds, and the trunk was fully charged.

However, the team hasn't complained of problems of autonomy. With regard to the time difference between an electric vehicle and a car with an internal combustion engine with similar specifications, David Peilow and Kevin Sharpe said it took only two extra hours, unlike a conventional car, all without consuming a drop of gasoline.

The same trip would have cost the couple about $ 300 if it would have been done aboard a Porsche 911 Turbo. Instead, for the Tesla Roadster, the electricity costed only $ 30. In addition, the electricity was offered free of charge as many points are free for customers of establishments – such as pubs, restaurants and hotels.

The trip proved that the electric vehicles with high autonomy may be used without major problems for the United Kingdom, and Nissan dealers are already preparing their own free network of charging points, in order to facilitate such journeys aboard a Leaf, for every customer in the UK.

The Nazis wanted to create an army of dogs able to write and speak

Posted: 27 May 2011 05:57 PM PDT

In the 1920s, in Germany there were people who said that some dogs are almost as smart as men, endowed with abstract thinking and ability to communicate. After the Nazi party took power, its members showed great interest in dogs' intelligence.

According to the book, the sustainers of these ideas imagined a day when the dogs could be used alongside German troops and could release SS officers from concentration camps. That is why, in order to exploit the full potential of the canine, Hitler established Tier-Sprechschule (a school for talking animals), which recruited dogs throughout the country.

Apparently, teachers of this school made amazing discoveries. An Airedale terrier named Rolf became famous after teachers said that he is able to indicate the letters of the alphabet by repeated beatings on a board (each point represented a certain number of beats).

Two other dogs are said to have been able to produce a barking that was similar to the human voice, one of them being able to say that Hitler was “Mein Fuhrer” and the other said “Hungry! Give me cakes!”

The Nazis believed that there is a strong link between man and nature, and their love for animals was somehow taken to the extreme: when the Jews were taken and held in camps, many Germans sent letters to newspapers across the country asking what will happen with the pets left behind.

Hitler was an animal lover, owner of two German shepherd: Bella and Blondi. The Fuhrer shot Blondi shortly before he committed suicide.

Grease star Jeff Conaway dies at 60 after slipping into coma

Posted: 27 May 2011 05:46 PM PDT

Conaway was taken off life support at Encino Hospital Medical Center in the San Fernando Valley, said his sister Carla Shreve.

His business partner, Phil Brock, said that Jeff Conaway had attempted to treat his pain on his own with cold medicine and painkillers, while he was in a precarious state of health. He was found lifeless on May 11

It was the result of “too many prescribed drugs” and he was placed in a medically induced coma afterwards.

The actor had fought an addiction to alcohol and drugs for years and even appeared on Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew in 2008.

TV and radio personality Dr. Drew Pinsky, who treated Conaway on Celebrity Rehab, has said it wasn't drug overdose that killed Jeff, but was rather due to long-term prescription drug abuse.

“Jeff is another pharmaceutical death from the overutilization of prescription drugs. Please continue to pray for friends and family. They appreciate your support," Drew explained.

Conaway had starred in the movie Grease in 1978, with John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, and between 1978 and 1981 he had a role in the sitcom Taxi.

January Jones’ baby – is Matthew Vaughn, Bobby Flay or ex Jason Sudeikis the father?

Posted: 27 May 2011 04:03 PM PDT

January Jones is a happy woman. Especially since her first pregnancy is going excellently.

“I feel great. I haven’t had any weird physical side effects,” she told People at a press conference for her new movie X-Men: First Class. “I feel pretty lucky so far.”

Everybody is asking that. I haven't yet. It’s a bummer. I wish I had something weird to tell,” she added.

However, there is something many would like to hear from Jones: the identity of the father of her child. The 33-year-old actress has decided to have a baby by herself. The U.S. press is actively seeking to know who she conceived her baby with.

The first name mentioned is none other than her ex, Jason Sudeikis, with whom she broke up in January. Asked to comment on the pregnancy of January, he simply said he preferred not to answer.

The second on the list is Matthew Vaughn. Claudia Schiffer's husband, who directed the actress in X-Men, has strongly denied these rumors. However, they were said to be “very close” during filming, E! Online reported.

The third name is Bobby Flay, also one of her former boyfriends. Bobby is also a married man, his wife is actress Stephanie March.

Jackie Kennedy never before heard tapes are made public

Posted: 27 May 2011 03:25 PM PDT

The interviews were completed a few months after the assassination of President Kennedy, which took place in 1963. Eight and a half hours of audio, grouped in seven interviews were conducted by historian Arthur M. Schlesinger.

Jackie Kennedy had sealed the materials and instructed her daughter, Caroline, that they be released in due course.

Caroline Kennedy said she chose to disclose the records because she is writing a book based on these interviews, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of her father’s presidency.

“My mother took very seriously the obligation to preserve and document the history of my father’s administration – and these interviews are the result. I am honored to play a small part in that effort by bringing them forward in connection with the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy administration,” said Caroline Kennedy.

In her conversations with historian Schlesinger, Jackie Kennedy talks about her role as the first lady of the USA, her family and life at the White House. Also, Jacqueline talks about major political events of the time, but also about the last days in the life of President Kennedy.

Materials will be broadcast by ABC from September. Also, the tapes will be sold together with the book “Jacqueline Kennedy: Historic Conversations on Life with John F Kennedy.”

After the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, Jackie, one of the most stylish women in the world married tycoon Aristotle Onasis and died of cancer in 1994.
